Today we visited Scenic World, which lets you explore Katoomba's rainforest from both above and below the canopy. We caught the scenic rail down the mountain, which descends quite steeply through a tunnel in the side of the cliff face, enjoyed some of the boardwalks through the rainforest before catching the cable car back to the top. We timed this well, as soon as we got back to the viewing platform, a massive thunderstorm hit. Scenic World is well worth a look if you are in Katoomba, and includes a lot of history about early coal mining in the area.
After lunch we took a drive out to Leura for a walk around The Mall and a hot chocolate at Cafe Madeline as it was still raining. A short while after we returned to Echo Point the weather cleared up so I used the opportunity to take some more photos down at the 3 Sisters lookout and play with some HDR shots at sunset.
I love the Blue Mountains! Am glad you enjoyed it. I always used to go to Leura as a child as my aunt used to live there. Brings back memories.
